Purchased a 70-300m telephoto lens

When I went to Cleveland, I borrowed a buddy’s 70-300m telephoto lens for my Canon DSLR camera. I liked it a lot, so I wanted one. I just bought the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras, the price was right :).

Happy 4th!

I recently picked up a tripod, so I was able to take some nice 3 or more second shots for the 4th of July.

Canon A70 Back

My recalled Canon Powershot A70 came back yesterday. The CCD censor was indeed the issue, because it has a bill for $0. Took a phew photos with it to test, works great.

This is a pretty neat little camera, I’m sure Kessa will get good use of it.

Broken Canon A70 Recalled

Awhile ago I wrote about my ‘broken’ Canon A70 digital camera. I toyed around with it for awhile to no avail; I had given up on it. Every once in awhile, if I smacked the thing hard enough, the picture would take correctly. Eventually I purchased the Canon Digital Rebel XTi as a replacement.

Kessa asked me a few days ago to have a camera to use in case she needed to, so I’ve been casually looking for one for her. Today I stumbled upon information about a Canon Powershot recall on tian.cc.

Affected products:
– Camcorders: ZR60, ZR65 MC, ZR70 MC, ZR80, ZR85, ZR90, ELURA 40 MC, ELURA 50
– Digital Cameras A60, A70, A75, A300, A310, S230, SD100, SD110, A40(*), A80(*), A85(*), A95(*), S1 IS(*), S60(*), S200(*), S330(*), S400(*), S410(*), S500(*)
*Models added as of Oct.31, 2006

Tian explains the actual issue, which doesn’t sound lens related as I once thought. So it looks like I’ll be sending it in for a recall, as described on his site. Then Kessa will get a brand spanking new old camera with which she can play around.

Cherry Tree

There’s a cherry tree in my back yard. It makes a huge mess and gives my dogs diarrhea. I’m sure the cherries would taste delicious, if there were any the birds left to ripen. I thought I’d try something new with unlimited Flickr account this year, something else to waste bandwidth and space.

I’m going to take a photo of the same small branch of the cherry tree every day (so long as I can remember, and am in town) from start to finish. I want to see it progress, bloom, bear fruit, and die.

Links: photoset, slideshow (hopefully the coolest part eventually).
